Filtermist’s CFO Martyn Hasell will run this year’s London Marathon to raise money for charity Asthma+Lung UK.
Seasoned runner Martyn chose the charity as lung health is something Filtermist is passionate about. The Telford based business manufacturers products designed to keep workforces’ lungs healthy by removing airborne contaminants such as oil mist, dust and fume from industrial processes. Martyn said:
“Lung disease is now the third most common cause of death in the UK, costing the NHS more than £9 billion every year. By raising money for the charity I’ll be helping it with its efforts in research, campaigning and advice and support.”
Martyn is no stranger to marathons having completed the Snickerthon in Cannock, Staffordshire back in 2021. It involved running over mixed terrain – something he won’t have to deal with at the London Marathon in April.
Martyn’s training plan started before Christmas – in all of the extremes of weather the UK had to offer at the end of last year!

“Having run a marathon before I’ve been able to use the experience to help me develop a structured training plan. I run 3-4 times a week, completing a longer run every second week,” added Martyn.
Martyn has been increasing the distance of his long distance-training run every two weeks – starting at 12 miles and building up to 24 in total.
