We are Filtermist... Carolyn Lee

Carolyn Lee, Systems Engineering Manager

“I am part of an incredible team and working with people you can truly rely on to be right next to you digging deep to make our vision a reality. Everyone gives 110% every day, and even if the going gets tough, every single person within Filtermist goes beyond expectation and that makes me so proud; I couldn’t think of a better place to work.”

Carolyn only joined Filtermist just over a year ago but in that short time has made a huge impact on the business. She has extensive experience in automotive and construction having spent eight years in engine development and industrial plant with Jaguar Land Rover and is qualified with a Bsc (Hons) in Engineering with NEBOSH Construction:

“Carolyn never stops coming up with new and innovative ways to do business. Her background in mechanical engineering and construction brought strong project management skills to the business and she’s been key in developing our Centralised Systems offering as the company has grown over the last twelve months,” said Andy Hives, Director of Group UK Sales.

Carolyn’s role includes looking after the high value, high complexity centralised systems for key accounts by building strategic partnerships and becoming the first choice solution for those partners.

Carolyn has been pivotal in developing Filtermist Systems as it merged with Multi-Fan Systems, DCS and Cades at the end of last year – her goal – to ensure Filtermist Systems can act as a principal contractor to truly offer turnkey solutions to clients to enable them to focus on their core business.

When asked what the best thing about working at Filtermist was Carolyn said: “All ideas welcome! Filtermist is truly open to anything that will take us even a little step closer to being able to achieve our goal of being the country’s leading clean air solutions provider. To be able to sit down with the directors of a company and pitch your ideas and be truly listened to and considered is fantastic.”

Carolyn built her knowledge of the business up in her initial job as Contracts Manager South where she looked after the contracts team who ran all systems installations in that area:

“Having been client side before I joined Filtermist has given me an in-depth insight into what a customer is looking for when they are truly looking for a turnkey solution. Previous jobs have seen me responsible for principal contracts, lift and shift and building and civils works, so I’ve built on this and we as a business can offer these services alongside installing systems, commissioning and handing over,” Carolyn explained.

“I was drawn to the fast paced, dynamic, family atmosphere. Filtermist is dedicated to making a difference to peoples’ lives and the environment people work in, and I felt I had something to bring to the table to be able to drive that vision and passion forwards. We strive for excellence in everything we do and want to offer the absolute best to our customers and that’s what I love delivering,” she added.

Carolyn was named one of the Top 100 in the ‘Young Pioneer’ category in The Manufacturer Magazine’s Top 100 last year.  The competition is designed to create more role models to help inspire the next generation of engineers. The judges praised Carolyn for the way she has smashed industry stereotypes to secure a senior position at just 27-years-old.

“The Top 100 recognition will support my aim to inspire more young girls to consider a career in this sector, so that it’s no longer a rarity to see females on the shop floor, in senior engineering teams and on the board of major manufacturers. We’ve got to make it the norm so there’s not men and women engineers, just engineers that are really good!” said Carolyn.
