Filtermist featuring in televised Business broadcast

James Stansfield, Filtermist’s Managing Director, was recently invited to take part in a television programme being made by the Business Channel to explore how UK companies can access BRICS and other high-growth markets around the world.

The interview will be broadcast at 8.30pm tonight on Sky channel 212 and Freesat channel 401 and will be available to view on the Business Channel’s website from tomorrow morning.

Filtermist currently sells its oil mist collectors in more than 60 countries worldwide through a network of carefully selected global distributors. James has worked at Filtermist for more than 15 years, starting out as Sales Coordinator in 1998, before being appointed Managing Director 18 months ago; he is more than qualified to comment on both Filtermist’s own exporting experience and what can be done to help more UK manufacturers to enter new territories.

James discussed a number of the benefits and potential pitfalls of exporting to emerging markets with presenter Sarah Lockett. He said, “The UK has a great opportunity to grow. Its historical circumstances mean the English language is widely spoken around the world and it benefits from an established global reputation for its manufacturing expertise.”

He went on to discuss how more UK companies should not be afraid of trading globally and the effect ‘globalisation’ has had on making it easier for UK firms to export; “Filtermist operates a number of translated websites to ensure customers in all of our markets can access the information they need; we work closely with UKTI to make the most of its local knowledge in each new identified target market; we use Skype and other internet based technologies to communicate with our distributors and we never underestimate the value of face to face meetings.

“It is also far easier to travel now than ever before – you can get anywhere in the world within two stops.”
