Filtermist ramps up sustainability with solar panels installation

An installation of over 450 solar panels on the roof of Filtermist’s Telford headquarters has recently been completed in a move designed to reduce annual energy spend by approximately 200,000kWh. The solar panels are also forecast to reduce our CO2 emissions by 36,000kg!

Filtermist MD, René Joppi commented, “With a payback period of just over three years and an expected lifespan of at least 25 years for the panels, the decision to invest was an easy one!”

The installation, which took around six weeks, spans the whole length of the roof and covers a total area of approximately 1136m².

“This latest investment is part of Filtermist's ongoing commitment to operating sustainably – we are constantly looking at how we can minimise our environmental impact and meet Absolent Air Care Group’s target of being sustainable and responsible with our environment,” continues René.

“Filtermist is on a green tariff from our energy supplier which means our energy is produced by  renewable sources, but generating most of our own power means we can be even more confident of where it is coming from. Additionally, any excess power generated by us is fed back into the National Grid which improves our energy balance even further.

“We have access to an online dashboard which tells us exactly how much electricity has been generated, what our own consumption is, and how much has been fed back into the national network.”

The UK is currently enjoying a mini-heatwave and Filtermist is reaping the benefits of a very sunny summer!
