Filtermist Systems has recently completed an installation of 45 S Fusion oil mist filters for PTFE lined flexible hose manufacturer Aflex Hose.

The compact S800 units, all fitted with Fusion filters which have been specifically designed to cope with submicron particles generated in neat oil applications, were installed as part of a significant investment by Aflex and its parent company, Watson-Marlow.

Paul Battersby, Area Sales Manager at Filtermist Systems, takes up the story, “Aflex contacted us back in 2020 following the company’s move to new premises. Management was keen to keep the new facility as clean as possible so we initially undertook a trial on one of the braiding machines to ensure the S Fusion could cope with the submicron particles being generated in this application.

“The trial was successful and Aflex subsequently ordered 45 units – one for each of their braiding machines. 23 units were installed in 2020 and the remaining 22 have just been fitted.”

The ongoing Covid pandemic meant that Filtermist’s installation team needed to ensure the installations were carried out in accordance with Aflex’s site rules and to quite a tight timescale.

“Filtermist sent three Installation Engineers and two Projects Engineers to make sure the team could meet our deadline,” said Richard Christian, Automotive Business Manager at Aflex Hose. “The installation went very smoothly and all of the Filtermist Engineers were very professional and courteous.

“Most importantly, the air in our new production facility is clean and safe to breathe and we have a working environment that our whole team can be proud of.
