Filtermist Engineers reach heady heights!

Nine of Filtermist’s Service Engineers undertook PASMA (Prefabricated Access Suppliers and Manufacturers Association) Mobile Tower training this week as part of their mandatory safety training.

The one-day course was delivered by a trainer from Arco Professional Safety Services on site at Filtermist’s headquarters in Telford and included a classroom-based session and practical, hands-on training.

The course was organised by Filtermist’s Resource and Planning Manager (Oil Mist), Katy Austin, who comments, “Our Engineers are frequently required to work at height so it’s really important that they understand how to do this as safely as possible. The session was very well received by the Engineers thanks to the trainer’s delivery style.”

Filtermist, which is part of Absolent Air Care Group, uses a Health and Safety Training Matrix to ensure all of its employees are competent and have the knowledge required to safely do their jobs. The matrix includes mandatory training on a number of topics including asbestos awareness, working in confined spaces, manual handling and more.

The Service Engineers recently completed IPAF (International Powered Access Federation) training and will be undertaking First Aid at Work and Fall Protection Equipment training next month.

Filtermist is committed to the ongoing development of all of its employees. Both Filtermist Systems Limited (the UK sales operation) and Filtermist International Limited (the manufacturing business) have training hours targets which all managers are required to meet for their team members. This includes mandatory safety training, as well as Continuous Professional Development activities which include Rising Stars and leadership development programmes.

Jo Morris, Director of Group Shared Services which encompasses the HR and QSHE departments, says, “Ensuring our people have the skills they need to safely do their jobs is paramount and not only does it make good business sense, it’s also very beneficial from a HR perspective. Employees that feel they are invested in and given opportunities to learn and progress are more inclined to stay with the business.”
