Maintaining a flexible approach for fifty years

As a UK manufacturer for more than 50 years, Filtermist is only too aware of the value of maintaining a flexible approach to business - an attitude which is more important than ever in challenging times such as the current climate.

Filtermist has always offered ‘out of hours’ engineer visits for routine and reactive maintenance and LEV testing, and this service is still very much available to all customers throughout the UK, as CEO James Stansfield explains, “We initially began our whole service provision by working at weekends. The assembly operatives, including myself, who wanted to earn extra cash would go out on the road on Saturdays to service units to ensure the optimum extraction rate was being maintained.

“This grew into a dedicated service division which now employs around 40 engineers across the country who provide maintenance services for all types of LEV equipment. Originally, we only serviced Filtermist oil mist filters, but we quickly realised that lots of customers used also other products which we could service for them at the same time. This added value for the customer and made our visits more worthwhile.

“This flexibility became even more important as Filtermist embarked on its recent acquisition trail and we now offer service and maintenance for LEV systems designed to remove a wide range of airborne contaminants including dust, fume, smoke and VOCs, as well as oil mist.

“The current situation resulting from the COVID-19 outbreak means that, unsurprisingly, some customers are reluctant to grant external parties access to their premises during working hours as it could make ensuring social distancing trickier. However, the HSE still requires all LEV Systems to be regularly tested by a competent person at least once every 14 months to ensure employers remain compliant with COSHH regulations.

“This is where our team can help. Our nationwide network means we can support customers all over the UK at times that suit them best – whether that means evenings or weekends. We can start when you stop if that helps.”

Filtermist has also introduced a flexible payment plan scheme* for Filtermist oil mist filters to help customers manage their cashflow if required. An initial deposit, followed by three equal, interest-free payments is designed to help companies keep an eye on their finances whilst ensuring the health of their workforce isn’t compromised by delaying investing in effective filtration equipment.

“We know that in the current circumstances, HSE compliance isn’t at the top of everyone’s agenda,” continues James. “However, it is really important that employees aren’t exposed to contaminated air in the workplace - installing effective local exhaust ventilation is the best way of ensuring the air is clean and safe to breathe. We’ve always tried to make achieving this as easy as possible for customers and our finance plan is just another way we’re trying to help.”
