Manufacturing processes can create a wide variety of contaminants including oil mist, dust, fume, smoke, VOCs (volatile organic compounds) and odours which must all be controlled under Health and Safety regulations including Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations 2002 and Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations (DSEAR) 2002.
Filtermist Limited’s Dust and Fume Division was formed following the acquisitions of industry leading companies including MultiFan Systems, Dustcheck, Dust Control Solutions and Dust Control Systems (DCS) between 2016-2019.
The division’s experienced team of Project Managers have a proven track record of delivering dust and fume extraction systems capable of effectively removing a huge range of airborne contaminants for customers of all sizes.
Our expertise includes delivering fully automated centralised extraction and filtration systems for clients across a wide range of industries including automotive, aerospace and defence, medical device manufacturing, food processing, pharmaceutical, printing, packaging and converting, and many more.
Filtermist Limited’s experienced team begins each project by listening to the client’s requirements and assessing all aspects of the project. We consider the environmental impacts, the health and safety requirements, and the overall system performance requirements, through to the maintenance schedules once the site has been signed off.
A designated engineer is appointed to each project and is responsible for ensuring the system is planned, manufactured and delivered in accordance with both the design brief and all relevant regulatory requirements. Our experienced team includes P602 certified personnel – visit our team page to find out more.
We employ skilled P602 certified LEV system designers who use the latest CAD technologies to produce detailed 2D drawings and plans.
All systems are designed in accordance with HSE publication HSG258 ‘Controlling airborne contaminants at work – a guide to local exhaust ventilation’.
We listen to our clients’ needs and then specify extraction equipment accordingly. Our broad portfolio of dust and fume collectors includes UK manufactured Dustcheck dust collectors and process filters – Dustcheck is part of Filtermist Limited, meaning we have complete control over specification, product quality and lead times.
Absolent Air Care Group companies have manufactured air extraction and filtration systems in the UK, Sweden and Canada since 1969.
As well as Filtermist’s core product range of oil mist filters, our Telford based production team is also responsible for manufacturing Kerstar industrial vacuum cleaners, including ATEX rated models, and Dustcheck wet and dry dust collectors and process filters.
Filtermist Limited is also the UK distributor for sister company Absolent AB.
We operate dedicated installation teams which work to the highest standards at all times. We are accredited by the SafeContractor and Avetta schemes for our high levels of health and safety practice. Working as a turnkey supplier overseeing all aspects of system installation, or under Construction, Design and Management (CDM) regulations, we closely monitor and audit our teams to ensure that they work safely, efficiently and within the guidelines of our clients’ needs at all times.
Our teams are managed by experienced Project Managers, and our engineers are seasoned, competent professionals in the installation of ducting, pipework, electrics and filter systems.
All LEV extraction systems are commissioned in accordance with HSG258 guidelines before the project is signed off. A series of tests are undertaken to ensure that the system is performing as designed and once the team is completely satisfied that everything is in order, the project is completed.
Filtermist Limited provides an extensive aftersales service for all makes and models of industrial air filtration and extraction equipment. The service includes:

HSE publication HSG258 ‘Controlling Airborne Contaminants at Work’ specifies best practice for LEV system design. It includes chapters on preparing a specification, hood design and application, and designing the rest of the system.
Dust extraction systems should be designed by a competent person who understands airflow, capture velocities, ductwork design, and filtration efficiency.
Filtermist’s dust LEV system designers hold BOHS qualification P602 - Basic Design Principles of Local Exhaust Ventilation Systems, coupled with many years’ experience in the dust extraction industry.
It is worth noting that for systems that need to comply with the ATEX Directives, DSEAR states that the duty holder (the employer/site operator) remains legally responsible for ensuring the system is adequate, even if the design work is outsourced. This is why it is so important that the Kst values of dust particles are understood and factored into the design of all dust extraction systems.
Filtermist provides oil mist collectors in over 60 countries worldwide
