Pharmaceutical Dust Extraction: Protecting People and Product

Filtermist's experienced dust extraction team works with many high-profile pharmaceutical manufacturers to ensure the air in their production facilities is clean, safe to breathe, and compliant with relevant health and safety regulations including COSHH. It also helps to ensure that potentially costly product waste is minimised.

Maintaining safe working environments is critical for manufacturers of pharmaceutical products, who must adhere to the most stringent regulations regarding workplace cleanliness - as specified in the World Health Organisation's good manufacturing practices guide for pharmaceutical products containing hazardous substances.

From centralised dust control systems to individual dust extraction units, Filtermist offers comprehensive clean air solutions for pharmaceutical manufacturers of all sizes.

Introducing the Absolent AD Range

A significant recent addition to Filtermist's pharmaceutical offering is the Absolent AD range of dust collectors - a highly capable dust extraction solution designed to deliver optimal performance in a compact footprint. Using innovative vertical airflow technology, the AD range directs contaminated air downward through vertical filter elements, with a downflow pulse cleaning system providing high pre-separation. This means a smaller filtration surface area is needed to provide the same or higher levels of filtration than found in other products on the market.

Every AD unit is constructed from Galfan pre-coated steel as standard, offering twice the corrosion resistance of conventional hot-dip galvanising - an important consideration in demanding pharmaceutical production environments. The range also features a unique CleanChange™ filter change mechanism, located on the clean side of the filter, along with a quick-release access door and system safety switch, making maintenance straightforward and hygienic.

Tailored Solutions for Pharmaceutical Applications

As well as the AD range, Filtermist offers a wide portfolio of extraction equipment under its Dustcheck brand, tailored to the specific needs of pharmaceutical production. Products can be designed to accommodate individual customer requirements, including units featuring 'Safe Change' or 'Clean Change' filter element removal to protect operators from particularly toxic or hazardous dust, and to help meet workplace exposure limits.

Dustcheck dust collectors and process filters provide proven dust filtration solutions across a range of pharmaceutical applications. Dustcheck cartridges, manufactured using unique conical filter technology with stainless steel end caps and star-pleated filter material, are perfectly matched with a multi-jet cleaning system that ensures effective dust removal with no loss of suction.

For hygienic applications, the circular construction of the Dustcheck AirGuard Series makes it an extremely popular choice for pharmaceutical manufacturers as there are no internal ledges for product to collect on.

Filter Material

Dustcheck cartridges are made of electrically conductive filter material in white - a specification requested by many users in the food and pharmaceutical industries. The use of electrically conductive material is particularly important in potentially explosive atmospheres where electrostatic discharge of built-up charge can pose problems. All equipment used in environments like this must be dealt with in accordance with the ATEX directives.
