Filtermist Limited will be exhibiting at the DPRTE show in Farnborough in just over two months’ time to demonstrate how it ensures clean, COSHH compliant workplace air for the UK’s defence industry.

Established in 1969, Filtermist provides effective oil mist extraction, dust and fume extraction and aftermarket services for many of the UK’s Defence Primes as well as Tier 1,2 and 3 suppliers.
Global Commercial Director, Graeme Bell, elaborates, “The current geopolitical situation means that governments around the world are channelling funding into defence spending.
“Our products and services are needed by any company that uses manufacturing processes which can generate airborne particles. This could be metal machining or fabrication, composite manufacturing, additive manufacturing, surface finishing processes – basically, anything which results in dust, fume or oil mist particles in the air.
“We recently joined Make UK Defence (MUKD) to help strengthen our presence in this key market and will be exhibiting on stand M42 on the MUKD pavilion at DPRTE. This will be the first time we’ve taken part in this dedicated defence procurement show so it will be interesting to see what type of response we get.”
Filtermist will be showing visitors how its UK manufactured oil mist filters effectively remove oil mist particles from the air in CNC machining workshops, how its Kerstar branded industrial vacuum cleaners help keep ATEX zones clean and safe to work in, and how dust collectors from Dustcheck and sister company Absolent AB keep harmful dust particles under control.
Employers have a legal obligation under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations 2002 to protect employees from exposure to harmful substances. The HSE recommends using Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) systems as the most effective engineering control, and anyone using LEV systems is required to have them thoroughly examined and tested by a competent person at least once every 14 months under COSHH.
Filtermist provides a full turn-key service to UK customers – from site audits and system recommendations to equipment manufacture and supply, installation, commissioning and aftermarket services.
This makes it simple for Defence Primes and their suppliers to access everything they need to ensure COSHH compliant air in one place, as Graeme explains, “As a full-service provider for all types of airborne contaminants, Filtermist can be counted on to deliver workplace air which is clean, safe to breathe and compliant with COSHH, DSEAR and IPPC regulations.
“Having worked in this industry for over 55 years, we have optimised our nationwide service so our customers can focus on their day jobs, knowing their people are protected from exposure to harmful airborne particles, and their business is protected from the financial and productivity disruptions that can result from flouting health and safety regulations.
“In an industry like defence where compliance adherence is non-negotiable, partnering with Filtermist means internal air quality is one less thing for UK engineers and manufacturers to worry about.”
