Carl Latham, UK Service & LEV Sales Manager

Having started his career in this industry as a Field Service Engineer at Freudenberg, Carl originally joined Dustcheck back in 2014 in an assembly and warehouse role. Gaining knowledge of the products from a ground level meant that when the opportunity for a Dustcheck service and LEV engineer role became available, Carl was perfectly placed: “The Dustcheck management team took a chance on me and trained me in all aspects of servicing dust control equipment and LEV systems. Having already worked in assembly I had a really good working knowledge of all of Dustcheck’s equipment and I was able to transfer that knowledge over to other manufacturer’s equipment too; so when it came to LEV testing, servicing and repairs I was able to troubleshoot really easily,” said Carl.

From the Service and LEV Engineer role, Carl had progressed to Dustcheck Team Leader by the time Filtermist acquired the company back in 2018. He then changed roles again to Filtermist Dust Service Team leader where he was responsible for the Dust Extraction engineering team: “I have worked in this industry for over 10 years - the combined knowledge that Dustcheck and Filtermist have within the clean air sector is second to none so I was ideally placed to learn and progress within all of my roles.

“As someone constantly looking to progress, I was offered an opportunity with another company shortly after Filtermist’s acquisition of Dustcheck, and I did actually leave Filtermist for 18 months. This gave me another perspective on the industry and when the opportunity arose to return to Filtermist I decided it was too good to turn down. I felt that my ambition and knowledge was best suited to a proactive industry leader with a great team foundation which we can furthermore improve; and that is what excites me! “Added Carl.

As well as his P601, P602, P604 and W201 BOHS Qualifications Carl is also a BOHS exam marker and has recently completed marking an initial set of P601 exam papers and has sent feedback to all those aspiring LEV engineers who recently took exams.

His current role involves managing a dedicated, talented team producing high standards of service, LEV and aftersales within the UK - from installation of new units to spare parts or problem solving. “My aim is to lead my team by example, with a hands-on and problem solving approach which hopefully will provide our customer base with an excellent standard of service and aftercare,” Carl said.

“Carl’s knowledge and eagerness to learn and grow within his field of expertise meant we were delighted to welcome him back to the team, bringing with him new experiences, qualifications and industry insights that will see him thrive in his role,” added Jo Morris, Director of Shared Services at Filtermist.
