Macmillan biggest coffee mornings are a recipe for success

Filtermist is pleased to announce that it raised £146.95 from last month’s Macmillan Coffee Morning. Dustcheck, which was acquired by Filtermist in 2017, raised an impressive £420 by opening its doors and inviting neighbouring businesses to their coffee morning and cake sale.

A mouth-watering spread of delicious cakes and treats were baked and donated by staff in a bid to raise as much money as possible for the extremely worthy cause, and it’s safe to say that there were merely crumbs left on the table by midday!

This year in particular the cause is very close to everyone here at Filtermist as sadly our lovely Tricia Slater, one of our Export Sales Administrators, lost her husband Keith to a form of cancer in August. The devastating news touched everyone’s hearts here and our deepest sympathies go out to Tricia and her family at this difficult time.

Being such a trooper and amazing cake baker that she is, Tricia still managed to bake us a beautiful cake for this year’s coffee morning, and as we did last year, Tricia’s cake was raffled to raise as much money for Macmillan as possible.

The raffle was won by Sarah Taft one of our Service & Spares Coordinators who was extremely happy to receive the prize, but little did we know that Sarah managed to resist cutting into Tricia’s beautiful cake and instead kindly donated it to Telford’s Severn Hospice which we later found out was where Tricia’s husband Keith was cared for. Sarah’s kind gesture went a lot further than she or anyone else first thought, and Tricia was so pleased to hear where her cake had finally ended up!
