SHEP to host follow-up Metalworking Fluid and Welding Fume webinar

Following the success of its first Metalworking Fluids and Welding Fume webinar held earlier this year, SHEP (Safety and Health Engineering Partnership) is hosting a follow-up webinar on 22nd July 2021.

The GoToWebinar event, being hosted by BESA from 12.00pm-1.00pm, will include a presentation on Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV), a key control measure for metalworking fluids and welding fume, and an extended Q&A session for anyone that still has questions on controlling exposure to these substances.

Metalworking fluids can cause occupational asthma, occupational hypersensitivity pneumonitis and dermatitis. All welding fumes (including mild steel) are classed as carcinogens.

HSE inspectors are currently visiting businesses to check that welding work and use of metalworking fluids are planned and carried out correctly to minimise risk to workers’ health.

Full speaker and panellist details can be found by visiting the What's On page on the SHEP website - this page also contains the slides from the previous webinar as well as a link to access a recording of the March webinar.
