Bridgnorth businesses join forces to support local army cadets

Filtermist has joined forces with local embroidery Company, Stitches of Bridgnorth, to donate high quality t-shirts to Bridgnorth’s local army cadet force.

The voluntary organisation is the latest to benefit from Filtermist’s charity policy which aims to help small charities and organisations that the Company has a direct connection to via its 40+ employees.

Ryan Broster, part of Filtermist’s manufacturing team and a former cadet himself, nominated the organisation as a deserving cause when it became apparent that a new uniform was needed.

The request was passed by Filtermist’s charity committee and the Company joined forces with one of its most established suppliers, Stitches of Bridgnorth, to provide high quality t-shirts for all force members.

Bridgnorth’s Detachment Commander, Colour Sergeant Craig Holland, comments, “We are all grateful for the t-shirt donation – wearing a uniform helps make our members feel part of a team and means we can present a united front when we’re all working together. They also differentiate us from other cadet forces, by clearly carrying the Bridgnorth emblem.

“As a voluntary organisation that relies solely on donations and fund-raising, we are thankful to all local businesses that provide support to organisations like ourselves in their local communities. Young cadets find that being a member of the force is a very rewarding experience and we wouldn’t be able to offer the level of activities that we currently run without help from external sources.”

Filtermist’s Financial and Administration Controller, Valerie Williams, comments, “We were delighted to be able to help our local cadets force by providing the new t-shirts.

“We would particularly like to thank Mr Rimal Jheinga, Director of Stitches of Bridgnorth, and all his team for their help, support and co-operation throughout this joint venture.”

The Bridgnorth detachment is currently on the lookout for new adult volunteers or new cadets to join its force as Craig explains, “We are always looking for new adult volunteers to help with instruction and a number of other duties, as well as looking for new cadets to join our detachment.

“If you are between 12 and 18 years old, why not come down and see if the Army Cadets is for you? Parade nights are Monday and Wednesday 1900hrs to 2100hrs at The Army Cadet Centre, Oldbury Wells School West Side.”
