Filtermist is delighted to announce that it has been shortlisted in the Export category of the Insider Made in the Midlands Awards 2013. The awards are hosted by leading regional business publication, Midlands Business Insider, and aim to celebrate all that's great about the region's industrial might and manufacturing base.
The 2013 Awards consist of eight categories – judges from local manufacturing giants including Rolls-Royce, AGA Rangemaster, Bombardier and Steelite have reviewed and adjudicated the submissions in each category and whittled down the entries to four shortlisted companies in each award.
Filtermist entered the Export category to demonstrate its significant achievements in this area and raise awareness of the business potential of trading globally.
International Distributor Manager, Alison Green, says “Export has played a significant role in Filtermist’s growth from the very early days. Using our globally established network of 38 distribution partners we sell our products into 50 countries around the World. Since our business was started in 1969 we have sold over 200,000 units. In both 2011 and 2012 we have had record breaking sales thanks to extending our international network into Brazil, Russia, India and China, with exports now accounting for over 60% of our sales turnover. The key to our success to date is selling through experienced local partners with specific market knowledge.”
Filtermist received a Queens Award for Export Achievement in 1990 and won the International Trade through Export category at last year’s Shropshire Business Awards.
Alison continues, “We entered the Made in the Midlands Awards to show other local companies what can be achieved with some sound, strategic planning. With all of the current discussion about the need for the UK to export its way to growth, we are proud to be held up as an example of a UK manufacturing company that has built its business through successfully exporting – we must be doing something right or we wouldn’t have made it onto the shortlist!”
