Talleres Blamar - Experience, better than a Degree

Grup Blamar has developed a great capacity to respond to different technological challenges presented to them by their customers, with four businesses run by qualified and highly experienced personnel.

Established nearly quarter of a century ago, Grup Blamar today comprises of four companies – three of which carry out production using CNC turning machines, machining centres and supplementary machinery. Their production is divided between sub-contracted mechanical work and three of their own product ranges: security locking mechanisms – Keymat; stainless steel accessories – CBM and stainless steel bar systems – B-Inox.

The companies and products of Grup Blamar would not be what they are without their personnel, which it considers to be its greatest asset. For that reason, investment in their well-being is considered to be productive. A prominent feature of this investment is the installation of Filtermist oil mist filters on all of their machines, distributed by Disheco.

Specialist equipment

Three out of the four companies within the group carry out manufacturing activities and are equipped with the right technology to do so. Currently Talleres Blamar has a production plant of 1,500 square metres, equipped with 11 numerically controlled lathes both bar and plate, piece by piece, with automatic bar-feed – for the machining of all types of materials, iron, tinplate, stainless steel, plastics, aluminium.

Starting with solid bar metal, tube or preformed parts. Meca Munt on the other hand has a plant with 10 machining centres; "it uses very versatile technology: centres with double pallet, 4 shafts, high speed, prepared for heavy parts, which allows our machining process to work under optimum conditions with a wide range of piece types"

However, it isn't a company that make the machines, but the people within, and it is with this in mind that Blamar has made a significant leap forward. When we founded the company there were ten of us - two of which are now retired, but the rest of us continue in the thick of things. Since then we have continued to grow - reaching 50 in total today.

Clean environment

To step the working environment in the plant up a gear, they decided to resolve problems resulting from smoke, oils and other residues generated by the machinery. "In order to do this we got in touch with Disheco, a distributor with whom we already work closely in other fields, to install filters on the machines with the objective of cleansing the air in the workshop. We installed Filtermist on all the line machines and the factory looks like another world – with clean air. This also has repercussions on the machines themselves – by staying clean of residues this means less maintenance, and for the people, in a healthier environment, it also means less physical problems. Today, absenteeism is practically down to zero.

These filters have also meant an extended life for the computers. Before, the air vents would clog up with grease from the factory and would frequently break down. Disheco have taken control of their installation and fine tuning – they are experts in this type of specialist product and offer important advice; we are extremely pleased to have worked together on this."
