Filtermist Director trains for toughest charity challenge to date

Filtermist’s Director of Group Shared Services, Jo Morris, is currently in training to complete the gruelling 100k ‘Race to the Stones’ ultramarathon next month to raise more money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA).

Jo and her co-competitors took part in a similar challenge last year which took place over two days, but included an overnight stop. This latest challenge involves walking and running from Lewknor to the Avebury stone circle in Wiltshire over hilly terrain in 24 hours or less with no stopover.

“I like to set myself regular fitness challenges to give me something to work towards,” comments Jo. “Adding in a fund-raising angle makes it an even more worthwhile activity as MNDA’s work impacts thousands of people’s lives throughout the UK.

“I haven’t competed in an ultramarathon before and the training is intense, but great fun. I am really looking forward to seeing what I’m capable of in a challenge of this nature – mindset is just as, if not more so, important as physical fitness so this will test my mental strength, as well as whether my legs will hold out for that distance!”
