Multi-Fan Systems secures significant contract with WM Building Services

Filtermist subsidiary Multi-Fan Systems has secured a seven-figure contract with WM Building Services to specify, install and commission a centralised local exhaust ventilation (LEV) system at a brand-new production facility at Ansty Park in Coventry.

The central system will pick up a range of contaminants including oil mist, smoke and fume from over 100 LEV systems which are being relocated from existing manufacturing sites as part of this project. The contaminated air will be condensed and then exhausted out of six centralised exhaust stacks.

The build is the largest part of a global infrastructure investment being made by the customer and will act as the company’s global headquarters with up to 1000 employees being based at the site when it opens in 2020.

Leicester-based WM Building Services is the appointed sub-contractor responsible for a number of deliverables including heating, ventilation and ducting. The company has worked with the main contractor on previous projects and needed to ensure that the firm tasked with providing the extraction system was capable of completing the project to the high standards demanded by the end client.

Contracts Manager Lee Sutton comments, “The nature of the client’s business means the highest levels of air quality are an absolute necessity. Components manufactured on site must reach exacting standards before they are assembled into products – any pollution in the atmosphere could affect product quality as well as the health of the workforce.

“We also needed to be sure that the successful contractor for this part of the job was able to work within the strict health and safety boundaries which are a pre-requisite for projects of this size and scope.

“Multi-Fan Systems was able to demonstrate previous successful installations of this nature and has the financial security required for a project of this scale. We are confident that the client will be more than satisfied with the end result.”

Multi-Fan Systems’ Target Zero Culture is designed to ensure each and every project is delivered on time and within budget. Its teams, which are overseen by NEBOSH accredited managers, operate rigorous health and safety procedures as standard.

The company’s design engineers use 2D and 3D modelling software which enables clients to see visuals of all proposed system components before any work on site begins. This BIM Level 2 capability also acts as a user handbook when the installation is complete as all parts are clearly marked.

Established in 2001, the company is now part of Absolent Group which owns oil mist extraction specialists Filtermist International and Absolent AB. Filtermist’s Projects Division, which was responsible for delivering a substantial centralised extraction system at the Jaguar Land Rover Engine Manufacturing Centre, merged with Multi-Fan Systems late last year and now combines expertise from both teams. It also works closely with systems engineers employed by Dustcheck Ltd, another Group company.

Filtermist International CEO and Vice President of Absolent Group, James Stansfield, comments, “We are very pleased that Multi-Fan has secured this contract. As a Group, we benefit from a range of specialist expertise thanks to the way we are structured. This means our customers can access the best solution for their specific requirements.

“In total, our companies have operated in the industrial air cleaning space for more than 200 years so we have a wealth of experience to bring to the table for large scale projects such as this. We recently acquired Gallito Ltd which means we now manufacture our own brand of ducting, as well as the filtration equipment we are more widely known for. This capability means we are able to provide truly bespoke solutions thanks to our UK based fabrication facilities.

“We are looking to grow this side of the business substantially to help us achieve ambitious targets over the next five years.”
