MTD CNC has produced short films on behalf of Filtermist UK to show two products from our Coolant Control range in action. 

Interviewer Joe Reynolds visited aerospace sub-contractor Nu-Pro Ltd in Stroud where he spoke to Rob Wilson, Area Business Manager at Fluid Solutions, about why they recommend using coolant control products from Filtermist.

Available in three sizes, the Tramp Oil Skimmer is designed to effectively remove tramp oil from coolant sumps. Tramp oils help form the scum layer on the coolant, providing a breeding ground for bacteria. As well as creating a health and safety hazard and reducing lubrication qualities of the coolant, this can often result in a pungent odour that leads to extremely unpleasant working conditions.

Filtermist Tramp Oil Skimmers use a rotating belt to effectively remove tramp oil floating on the surface of the cutting fluid tank, as Rob explains to Joe: “The belt is submerged into the coolant sump and revolves via a motor. The tramp oil is picked up onto the belt and then deposited via a scraper into a waste receptacle.

“Removing tramp oil not only maintains the life of the coolant, it can also lengthen tool life.”

The Pneumaster Coolant Pump is a sump vacuum which operates using compressed air - making it a cost effective, clean and safe way of moving used coolant from the sump to the waste collection barrel.

“The benefits of this system are that it doesn’t have any moving parts, it’s air driven, and there are no cables hanging around for people to trip on,” comments Rob. “The coolant is pumped straight into the barrel so it’s easy, clean and your waste provider can uplift the barrel and take it away.”
